The excursion "Etna 3000 Craters Excursion" will start from the square of the Rifugio Sapienza (Nicolosi - Etna South), using first the Etna cable car, which will take us from an altitude of 1900 meters to an altitude of 2500 metres.
Once we reach 2500 metres, the trek will begin in a north-east direction and in a few minutes we will reach the Escrivà Crater (formed in the 2001 eruption).
Continuing north we will reach the base of the Barbagallo craters. Once we reach the base, we will first visit the effusive vents and the respective "Hot Point" and then enter the respective lava flow channel.
After the break we continue to climb towards the two craters formed in the autumn of 2002 called Barbagallo Craters. Once we reach the top of the craters we will go around the two craters and then descend inside it.
After visiting the craters which are located at an altitude of 2920 metres, the highest point of the excursion we descend towards the Belvedere della Valle del Bove, a place that allows you to admire the majestic beauty of the great depression.
Subsequently the excursion continues in the direction of the crater called Cisternazza, and then returns to the arrival station of the Etna cable car at an altitude of 2500 m.
