Federico Faggin returned to the land of Leonardo with Italiani di Frontiera
Federico Faggin returned to Leonardo's country for a weekend of inspiration and innovation from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 October 2023, in an event promoted by Italiani di Frontiera.
After having designed the first microprocessor and created touch technology, changing our daily lives like no other in the use of new technologies, the most important living Italian inventor, born in 1941, physicist, scientist and entrepreneur from Vicenza who moved to California in 1968, awarded in 2010 by President Obama, today explores a new frontier between science and metaphysics, investigating the consciousness that will always distinguish human beings from machines, will be a guest in Vinci where he was the protagonist of an extraordinary event in 2019, on the occasion of the release of his book “Silicio” (Mondadori).
“Irriducibile” (Mondadori) is the title of the inventor's latest effort, a reference to the impossibility of “reducing” the essence of Man to a “thinking machine”, a development of the previous volume “Silicio”, in a complex vision of reality that is intertwined with the intuitions of quantum physics, defining a new science of the inner world.
As in the work of the Renaissance genius, also in the work of Federico, the main mentor of Italiani di Frontiera who interviewed him for the first time in Silicon Valley in 2008, the intertwining of science, technology and Humanism is combined with an inexhaustible curiosity. At a time when Complexity seems inextricable and too many give in to the simplifications of Fake News and Conspiracies, Federico's exceptional clarity now guides us in the rediscovery of our spiritual essence, of who we really are.

This time too, Vinci's appointment was not a simple presentation of a book but became an opportunity for an in-depth meeting with an exceptional author, guest of an exclusive dinner on Friday 6th and protagonist of a show event with debate on Saturday 7th at 6pm on the most recent developments of his work, between images and the music of Alessandro Pavesi on the keyboard, in the style of Italiani di Frontiera, in a mix of science, philosophy, art and inspiration.

We opened the road in June, bringing to Tuscany (with the patronage of the Region) the most illustrious of the Italians from Silicon Valley.
With the “Faggin a Vinci” event we hosted the inventor of the microchip and touch in an unforgettable two days.
Wired, Huffington Post, AGI and Startup Italia talked about it, as well as the local press.
But it was only the beginning of an ambitious project: to build a bridge between the land of Leonardo and what is today the global cradle of innovation.

After a Sunday discovering the secrets of San Francisco, from Monday to Friday a dozen meetings with Italians who work in the Bay Area. Google, Stanford, LinkedIn among the various locations we will visit, with precious moments of networking and the discovery of some Italian startups that are making themselves honored in Silicon Valley. An inspiring experience for professionals from every sector that marks the entry into an international community of innovators.
It won't be a conventional trip at all. We will experience a real tour de force to discover the secrets of Silicon Valley, which will be revealed to us exclusively by our compatriots who have raised anchor, crossed the ocean to seize as pioneers the opportunities that the cradle of innovation offers . Visits to the largest companies (among the many that have already hosted us so far, Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, IBM, Cisco Airbnb, ...), special meetings with excellent compatriots, team building opportunities and informal moments of tourism, socializing and networking, which cannot be missing on a trip like this. How will we travel? Whether you know the USA or not, I already know that you are traveling with your imagination! It is not difficult to imagine yourself as if in a film, speeding along the highways under the golden California sun... Living the American dream, even in its contradictions, is part of the experience and, for this reason, we will travel by private bus from San Francisco to San Josè passing through Stanford and Palo Alto, on arteries that are the beating heart of a frenetic Silicon Valley but which have suggestive panoramic views.
Where will we sleep? We chose a typical American motel in a strategic position and with good value for money, in a very expensive area. It is located in Redwood City, the ideal location for our visit agenda, a few kilometers from the famous Facebook headquarters and the historic Stanford University, half an hour from Google headquarters. From there it will also be easy to reach San Francisco, which is just over 20 kilometers away. The structure that will host us is equipped with all comforts, has wi-fi and also a small swimming pool and a sauna, Turkish bath (but there won't be too much time to relax in a truly intense week). An accommodation that participants in previous Tours have shown they appreciate.
